After Hurricane Matthew in 2015, SolKomYo began working with a vulnerable population of females in Ouanaminthe. They live in an area of Ouanaminthe that is severely affected by natural disasters and experienced flooding after the Hurricane. Solkomyo provided a loan for the females, and is working with the females closely to build solidarity and inspire progress within their communiites.
With the group of 15 women, Solkomyo provides training to improve their economic activity, offers courses in communication and leadership, teaches reading and writing skills and opened a community savings banks.
The goal is that these females can become leaders and inspire change within their community.
